About the Author

BARBARA HANTMAN taught high school English for ten years in the South Bronx and Crown Heights. She enjoys her current role as troubleshooting substitute teacher, and finds that her M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University still comes in handy. She is Corresponding Secretary for a local group of bards: The Fresh Meadows Poets, and has been a featured reader at the New York Poetry Forum. Her four previous books of verse (Edwin Mellen Press) have been accepted by the Dorot Division of the Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street Library, YIVO Institute and American Sephardi Federation at the Center for Jewish History, and Poets House. She is a frequent contributor to MIDSTREAM, POETICA, THE NEOVICTORIAN/COCHLEA and FRESHET. A CUNY summer abroad at the University of Madrid rendered her able to versify in Spanish, as evidenced by Capullos del Alma: Soul Buds.
